India's Republic Day

Every year, on January 26th, India’s Republic Day is observed to mark the day in 1950 when the Constitution of India came into operation thereby making it a sovereign democratic republic. This event is celebrated with amazing pride and excitement especially by having a great parade in New Delhi which shows the cultural diversity of India, military might and accomplishments. Each state has its own tableau during the parade showcasing different aspects of their culture. The President of India presides over this occasion and gallantry awards are given out as a way to recognize valorous deeds. Republic Day serves as an opportunity to reflect upon the democratic principles of India while also reasserting unity among citizens as well as total commitment towards justice, liberty, equality and brotherhood.
Holi
Holi – a colorful festival in India that denotes the arrival of spring season, symbolizes joy and happiness among its people. People throw colored powders while singing and dancing happily that represent victory over evils. For this reason, it is considered as an ideal moment to make peace with others, re-create life and contribute to improving the society through a period full of gaiety and festivities.


Diwali
Diwali, festival of lights is one among the most celebrated festivals in India, representing triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. People light oil lamps at home, decorate their houses with colorful items and share sweets during this festival. This is a time for prayer, retrospection and hope renewal, which unites members of society in happiness and affluence.
India's Independence Day
India's Independence Day is celebrated extensively through the whole country on August 15th every year to mark this historical event whereby India was freed from British colonialism in 1947. The day is celebrated by hoisting flags as well as singing patriotic songs while making speeches in different parts of the nation. The Prime Minister also addresses the nation from the Red Fort in Delhi talking about the journey India has gone through over the years while also highlighting issues such as unity and development.
